Raptor Ridge
October 9, 2024
Raptor Ridge Winery, founded by Scott Shull in 1995, began when wine-tasting and small-scale winemaking with a group of co-workers became more than just a passing hobby in the early 90's. Annie joined Scott as his life partner in 1998 and business partner in 2001. Raptor Ridge has grown a lot from its early days, originally hosting tastings at their own kitchen counter they now host wine tastings at the wonderful Tuscowallame Estate. That fundamental ethos of Raptor Ridge – creating delicious, unique wine in an environment that feels like home – has remained a part of the Raptor Ridge Winery's vision since its inception.
Hoy Family Vineyards
November 13, 2024
5:30 – 7:30 pm
The Hoy Family Vineyard was planted in 1985 by Rexhill Winery under a 30-year lease with the Hoy Family. The vines were a mixture of Chardonnay (a bootleg French clone) and Pinot Noir (clones 113 and 115). In 2015, the lease ended and the Hoy Family took over the operation of the vineyard. After the introduction to Jacques Tardy, a well-respected French winemaker, the Hoy Family Vineyard concentrated on making small batch Pinot Noir wine, unique to the vineyard's location (450’ elevation, southern exposure, Chehalem Mountain AVA). In particular, the Pinot Noir 113 clone which was 1 of the 4 original Dijon clones brought to Oregon from France, hence the name. The 113 was widely planted in the early years in Oregon but has fallen out of favor with a large part of the Oregon wine scene due to its difficulty to farm. In 2016 Hoy Family Vineyard made its first vintage, a 2016 Pinot Noir 113 and 115 blend, it rated a Suckling score of 90 pts. In 2018 Hoy Family Vineyard made a 2018 single clone, single block, single estate, 113 Pinot Noir. The 2018 offers a unique take on Oregon Pinot Noir and has become a favorite at tastings.
