Learn how to create your own himmeli, the traditional Finnish holiday decoration made of natural straw threaded into beautiful geometric mobiles!

Himmeli are traditionally made in the winter with straw from the harvest, and hung above the table to ensure a bountiful year. But himmeli have gained worldwide fascination, with fans making them all year round, for all kinds of occasions. They make striking décor in the home throughout the year. Himmeli crafts have become very popular worldwide, and contemporary versions can include all kinds of materials like copper, wood, plastic, and paper in place of real straw. 

In this workshop you’ll learn how to make your own himmeli to hang in your home, with a range of materials to choose from.

All supplies and equipment will be provided. Instructor will guide you through each step to create at least one medium-sized eight-sided himmeli.

Great for ages 6 and up

This is a multi-generational activity! An adult guardian is required for children under the age of 18. Adult guardians do not have to purchase a ticket if they only plan to assist their children in the craft. Adults who plan to make their own craft are required to purchase a ticket.
